#78 - This Afternoon's Clock

The weather was pretty bad early in the day, rainy, cold, dark. Then the sun came out. It didn't warm up much, but it was a beautiful afternoon. I have just appointed myself weatherman for Champions Gate. Although, I don't forecast, I just report and you decide.

If you look closely you can see some kids at the plaza - skate boarders. They looked like they were having fun. I didn't see any girls over there though, just boys. What fun is that?

Remember being a kid and hanging out in the neighborhood? I do. I liked playing spin the bottle. I was always so lucky - the bottle always pointed to the prettiest girl, and I always got a nice kiss! Her name was Joyce. And, believe it or not, she was a redhead.

#76 - A Good Looking Truck

I'd like to say that's my new truck, but my luck has been exactly the opposite lately. As a matter of fact, if it wasn't for bad luck, I wouldn't have any luck at all. How cliche, I know. But ...

#75 - Big Puffies

I have three things to say:

1) The weather was gorgeous today,
2) and the sky was beautiful ...
3) and Roger Federer is in the semis at the Australian Open, because he beat Del Potro today. So is Andy Roddick, the lone American on the mens side, and he'll be playing against Federer. What a quandary for me - I ALWAYS root for Federer.

#71 - Historic Day Clock Tower

Historic because of the change of power at noon today. I watched the entire Inauguration, and of course the departure of President Bush - it was an amazing scene.

#69 - Pink Skies At Night ...

... are a sailor's delight. I overslept, so I don't know if the balloons were sailing through Champions Gate this morning, but my guess is: they were.

#68 - This Evening's Clock Tower

This is what the tower looked like this evening when I got back from visiting my Sweet Old Ma.

A funny thing happened on the way to my Mother's this morning. I was about thirty miles into my trip and the radio station started fading, so I hit the 'seek' button, and the DJ on the first station I came to was just reporting that I-75 North was completely blocked at the intersection of I-4 and was backed up in all directions. Of course, that's where I was headed, so I got off I-4 and took a side road that would ultimately lead to Sweet Ma's house. My trip time was increased by an hour, but the first hour of it was pleasurable, because the DJ had just started her show and the music was fantastic - music I've never heard before, with maybe one exception. She was playing Folk Music, all of it with an upbeat message, and quite a bit of it with a Christian message.

It reminded of the first time I heard On An Island by David Gilmour - I was on the Florida Turnpike late at night, stuck in traffic because of a nasty accident, but the hour turned out nice because I heard an interview and most of his album.

Now you know a little more about me! LOL

The effects of relentless skateboarding by a group of kids. That's the base of the Clock Tower in the background.

#65 - A Dark Blue Sky

I was telling one of my very best friends, the other day, that the sky is God's canvas - a place where He creates the most magnificent artwork. The sky on this afternoon was, as you can see, a deep dark blue and everything against it looked supreme.

#64 - Stormy Afternoon

I just beat the rain to get this shot. There was a guy parked next to the spot I pulled into in the Walgreens parking lot, and he was smoking a cigarette with his window open. The things I do to get these shots!! LOL

#61 - September Balloons

I'm trolling the archives because I've been too lazy to get up for sunrise balloon shots lately. I took this shot on September 16, 2008, and the balloons were floating to the east.

#55 - New Year's Day Clock Tower

I was supposed to be up and out early, shooting the first sunrise of the New Year, but I overslept, as I mentioned in yesterday's post. So, this is the first photo I took in 2009, and according to my camera, I took the shot at 1:09 PM!! I'm not confused at all, as I'm sure some of you must be by now looking at the time(s) on the clock tower! I prefer to believe my camera, so this photo was shot on 1/1/09 at 1:09! WOW!

This is a view of the north and west faces, shot from the Walgreens parking lot. And, no, I wasn't there for hangover medicine - I don't drink. LOL

#54 - Meet me there ...

I hang my head in shame - no sunrise shot for today! I overslept. Unbelievable!
